The Octopus Kiosk was originally located on Orchard Mesa. Looking to bring upscale drinks and a fun, inclusive atmosphere to Grand Junction, Octopus Coffee launched in September 2013 on the side of Highway 50 as a Drive-Thru and Walk-Up kiosk. We spent a winter soaking in the views and making friends and wishing we had better food to offer our hungry patrons.
In the fall of 2014, we found a small shop on Horizon Drive near the I-70 off ramp. Only 900 square feet, this became our first cafe, with indoor seating and a kitchen-big enough to add our own bakery to compliment our fabulous beverage menu. We opened Horizon Drive on February 4th, 2015 and immediately became famous for our breakfast burritos and fresh lunch options.
In 2018 we looked to the mountains for a place to grow and opened another Octopus Coffee in Crested Butte. We launched into roasting our own coffee and baking our own bread and we looked forward to growing into the future. Unfortunately when Covid-19 swept through the U.S. we were unable to sustain our Crested Butte operation.
Octopus Coffee has always been about promoting community, a shared sense of joy, giving a warm welcome and providing all things delicious. Our dedicated bakers arrive early to bake scones, frosted sweet rolls, cookies, sweet breads, and many other delights from scratch-using organic flour, sugar and eggs.
The magic continues throughout the day as our gifted team crafts our signature cream cheeses, roasts potatoes for the burritos, dices tomatoes, and do all the little things that add up to make a big difference in flavor and quality.
